Frey began his career in the entertainment industry where he worked for several years as a production assistant on The WaltonsDallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, and Flamingo Road. Transitioning to film, he became story editor for motion pictures for Lorimar Productions where he worked on films such as Power, The Boy Who Could Fly, The Morning After, and Running on Empty. From there he became the Vice President of Development for Martin Bregman Productions working on feature films.
He moved back to Las Vegas and transformed his passion for cigars into a business, building FreyBoy Tobacco with brother Robert Frey. Freyboy Tobacco opened its first retail location at the Station Casino in Kansas City, Missouri in 1997, followed by Matador Cigars at Sunset Station, Colosseum Cigars at Caesars Palace and Mardi Gras Cigars at the Rio Hotel. In 2008, the company opened Bombay Cigars at Mandalay Bay and the Partagas Cigar Factory on Las Vegas Boulevard. The company currently manages and operates Montecristo Cigar Bar at Caesars Palace, Empire Cigars at New York New York and a local tobacco store, Cigarbox by Freyboy Tobacco on Western Avenue. The company also operates cigarette hostess programs at Caesars Palace and New York New York.
In the world of spirits, the Freys teamed up to finance, develop, and introduce Montecristo Rum, which quickly became one of the most well received new boutique rums to enter the spirits marketplace. The award-winning premium blend of 12-year-old Guatemalan rum was honored as the "Best Rum 2002" by Wine & Spirits Magazine and named one of the "Top 50 Spirits of 2002" by Wine Enthusiast.
In 2005 in partnership with brother Robert Frey, Robert Levin and the famed cigar producing family, the Fuentes, he opened Casa Fuente, a world-renowned cigar store and bar located in the Forum Shops at Caesars.
In 2008, Michael teamed up with veteran food & beverage executive, Craig Gilbert expanded to create T&T (Tacos & Tequila) a Mexican restaurant inside the Luxor, RHUMBAR, a cocktail bar and lounge at the Mirage, and T&T and Natural 9 Noodle Company at the Morongo Casino in southern California. Michael also currently operates a Dunkin’ Donuts located in Laughlin, Nevada.
Michael attended the University of Southern California and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History after graduating high school at the prestigious Army & Navy Academy in Carlsbad California.
